Justice Canada is committed to supporting a people-centered approach to justice to advance equality, legal empowerment and a better understanding of the legal needs of all Canadians. Justice-related research and open data are critical to these efforts.

As part of this year’s Open Government Week celebration, Justice Canada is hosting its annual virtual Open Doors at Justice event on Tuesday, May 17 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

The theme of this year’s event is justice research and open data—a milestone that is included in the Open Justice commitment in Canada’s upcoming 5th National Action Plan on Open Government. The event will focus on sharing our work in this area and promoting open dialogue with the public, stakeholders and academics. In particular, we will share insights learned from the 2021 Canadian Legal Problems Survey and the related series of Qualitative Studies on Serious Legal Problems.
