The 6th Open Gov Week (OGW) will run from the 27th to the 31st of May 2024. During this week, OGP member countries are encouraged to join hundreds of reformers across the world – in both government and civil society – who are working to make their communities stronger, more open, participatory, inclusive, and accountable through the Open Gov Challenge.

This event will officially launch Open Gov Week in Malawi. It will be used to highlight the progress made on the signed OGP commitments. The Minister of Mining will be the guest of honor and give the keynote address at the opening. The plenary, which will take place in the afternoon with members of all TWGs present, will promote information sharing within the TWGs. The contents of the OGP Implementation Status report will inform the plenary.

Malawi’s OGP Secretariat has identified this week as an opportunity to publicize the OGP work being done in the country and highlight progress made in the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP).

Meet the moment. Raise ambition. Rise to the challenge.

The Open Government Challenge is a call to action for all members of OGP to raise ambition in ten areas of open government to help strengthen our democracies. Over the next five years, all members of the Partnership should aim to raise the ambition of reforms in 10 policy areas and demonstrate relevant progress in as many of the areas of the Challenge through their OGP action plans or beyond. We must act together to make a difference, because only when governments, public officials, and civil society work together, we see more ambitious and impactful reforms that transform our communities.

It’s our time to meet the moment. Let’s use Open Gov Week to take on the the Open Gov Challenge.
